jean dubuffet

(1901-1985)

His recourse to the seemingly infantile, primitive, and ugly masks a studied playfulness (and  sometimes irony). This work, done in his trademark red, white, and blue, reveals the playful side of his genius. It is typical of the style he pursued from 1975 until his death in 1985.
